Handle: Flash
Name: Lenny
Position: Executive Officer (XO) / Operator
How you got your Handle:
Came from my days playing Delta Force and Counter Strike where I liked to use Flash-bangs but my ADHD teammates never learned and would enter the room prior to me tossing it through the doorway.
History and Experience:
I started into the sport as I saw a unique store called “Jungle Toys” appear in my neighborhood back in 2003 and stopped in. I was hooked on the sight of the toys and got my friend Bill (Bent Barrel) to go into the store. After sneaking the money behind the wife’s back and getting the gun (I kept it hidden at Bills house for a while) we decided to play at Frog Holler in Derby, KS.
I managed to get several of my coworkers into the sport including Bent Barrel and LoTone. After forming Team LEO I was able to talk four of the guys to take a trip to Austin, Texas. At Rapid Decent we saw 200 people playing a sport that was the best and they had it all together down there.
Team LEO attendance was dying with no real places to play and no organized games amongst the team itself. I blame myself partially for the fall of Team LEO as I had no real time or heart at this point to try and lead other players.
Several of us trudged on and in 2007 Bent Barrel and I went to a little op called Urgent Fury in Abilene, TX. We met several new folks from all over the state and I found a new niche in the sport: “Classics”.
I became hooked on the Classic Airsoft guns I had seen from my new friends of Whiskey Company. The sound, the feel of the gas blowback kick, the feel of the metal and weight was intoxicating to me. I had to own one. I WOULD own one (not as soon as I wanted). I was also introduced to the concept in this sport of doing it right the first time with equipment. This is the best way to keep from spending lots of time and throwing money down the drain. If you spend the money (it might be more than you want) on the quality product that has been proven to stand the test of time and other airsofter’s then it will last and perform the way you need it too.
With the collapse of Team LEO I was asked to join the ranks of LoTones team: Use of Force.
I assisted LoTone with his event: Thunder On The Plains.
I was asked if I wanted to change teams again and join a team I had never heard of: STAC82. I was hesitant at first but after seeing the team play and meeting them I knew that I was joining a very professional team and I have never regretted it. I have been happy to wear the name and take it with me where I go.
I was able to purchase my first “Classic”- a Sun Projects M16A3 which I named “Elanore”.
I attended my first Lion Claws event: Night Scorpion III in March, 2008. I was looking forward to Urgent Fury II but due to a death in the family my STAC82 Teammates took my spirit with them and had a great time. I took my teammate-Riptor with me to Operation Midnight Rodeo and played in my first “Night Operation”. This was a true learning experience. Once there I was asked to be the XO for the team we were on. It turned out that I was the actual CO as the CO was taken hostage as part of the Op prior to it beginning. Then in the middle of the most intense fire fight we had that night he left the playing field, leaving me in charge. We were “winning” according to the Op coordinators and continued to dominate. This was not due to my leadership skills but due to the hard work of all the team members.
I assisted with the Wichita Airsoft Squad Competition in June of 2008 as one of the field coordinators for LoTone.
I was assigned as the Lt.-XO for the Rangers team for Night Scorpion 4 in April of 2009. This was a true honor to serve with Msgt. Mullens in a LionClaws event. I definitely was able to broaden my knowledge in a command role and I learned a lot in just a short period of time from him and everyone the served under me.
Due to my profession I have experience in Dynamic Building Clearing and Active Shooter Response. I also have served proudly in the Kansas Air National Guard where I learned navigation/map reading along with radio communications.
