History of STAC82
Our (Big Nasty and Tech) original name was Navy SEALs Element 82, although it was intended to pay homage to those that earned the right to call themselves SEALs. We soon realized it was more disrespectful than respectful, so we decided to change our name. STAC82 (Special Tactics Airsoft Commandos element 82) was founded early in 2005 and had 4 members at the time (Big Nasty, Tech, Nukls and Guru). Below is our original STAC82 logo created by my very talented sister Erica, click on it to see a larger version.
Later in 2005 Breakdown and Stryper were added to the team. Thanks to Stryper and his affiliations we soon added Zig, Tac0 and PerG leading up to 2006. Roster total = 8.
Late in 2006 we added H3XD3M0N, someone we had played alongside many times, to the roster. Roster total = 9.
In 2007 the roster grew exponentially. Chicken was an unaffiliated player who often played with STAC82 and was invited to join the ranks. LoTone was affiliated with a team named UOF but the other members rarely showed up at games so he found himself playing alongside STAC82 members most of the time at Frog games. After the Thunder on the Plains event, LoTone was asked to join STAC82. All 6 UOF members merged with STAC82 but only 4 remain on the STAC82 roster, LoTone, Flash, Bent Barrel, and Fish. BushBoy and GFRD were lost in the transition. Roster total (with out the losses)= 16.
By 2008 the team had grown by leaps and bounds and started to see more structure. The team decided to set in stone some requirements for recruiting new players. With these new recruiting requirements several players were actively sought out. Riptor, Correus, and Laughing Jackal were added based on the fundamentals of STAC82. By now we had developed a structure and solid foundation on which to base our selections.
STAC82 continues to grow. Even though some members have been lost due to various circumstances, the core values of the team and it’s valuable members remains unscathed.
Who we are
Our team was founded on the concept of playing the game with honor and integrity before considering winning or losing (later leading to the motto “Honor, Integrity, Sportsmanship, Having Fun… These above all else”). We had experiences with players that do not have the integrity to call their hits and found that kind of behavior to put a damper on the whole day. We not only do not want to be responsible for hampering other players fun, but we also realize that cheating in any form disqualifies any “win” you may potentially gain. We are mostly about having fun in a challenging and entertaining manner, playing with integrity and sportsmanship but… when its all said and done, we kick butt.
Our structure is based on the fact that this is a sport and for fun. Although we do have titles we do not operate in a “rank and file” structure. The titles are (for the most part) an indication of the voluntary level of dedication to the team that member has. So no one member has complete control and no one member is “better” or more important than the other.
