Laughing Jackal

Handle: Laughing Jackal

Name: Ryan

Position: Operator

How you got your handle:

On the forums and gaming, I go by Laughing Jackal. I always liked the name Jackal and they are similar to hyennas I suppose. I tend to laugh at quite a few things and usually things I shouldn’t. That’s where I got the name. Feel free to call me Jackal, LJ, or Ryan. While serving in the Army, my nick name was “Killer K”. Long story behind that one. I thought it was bit cheesy though.

History and experience:

I started airsofting when I was about 15 or 16. A real geeky friend of mine got me started. I had a TM M4 but I only bought .12g BBs at Wal-Mart and was very disappointed. I sold that gun, and then got another one later down the road. I went to an Op called “The Art of War” in Missouri somewhere. It was way freaking cool and I was hooked!

I played a few games here in Wichita with Nick from WTA before he had a team. I went up to KC a few times and played with Rein Richmond and his crew. I played at an OP in KC that had something to do with “Thunder” can’t remember exactly. It was a bit lame though.

I joined the Army at 17 as an Airborne Ranger. Due to my good height, Weight, GT Score, and lack of criminal background, I was recruited for The Old Guard instead and went there. I still went to Airborne school however. I performed hundreds of funerals as well as lots of MOUT training, Battle Drills, small arms training, and other tactics. I spent some time as a squad designated Marksman, M249 Gunner, M240B gunner, and a few other positions. I got out as a Sergeant E5.

After the Army I was itching for some action. USPSA/IPSC wasn’t cutting it. I was going to do some PMC work but my wife freaked out. So I turned back to airsoft. It seemed to hit the spot and after much research, STAC82 seemed to be exactly what I was looking for. A good balance between home life and airsoft. Not to mention a good bunch of guys from what I’ve seen so far.
